AFFILIATE REQUIREMENTS/INFORMATION

1. Candidates must be sponsored by an affiliate of WAEOP, which qualifies as a contributing member to the WAEOP Scholarship Fund during the current year (August 1-July 31). Affiliates must have contributed a minimum of twenty-five dollars ($25) OR contributions may accompany the application. (Local associations must have affiliated prior to November 1 of the current school year.)

2. An affiliated association may sponsor only one candidate.

3. An affiliated association must submit candidate application and supporting documents to the WAEOP Scholarship Chairman postmarked by FEBRUARY 1st.

WAEOP DEPENDENT STUDENT SCHOLARSHIP (MEMBER SPONSORED)
GUIDELINES

• This is a scholarship designed to assist the child of a WAEOP member.
• The scholarship is valued at $1000. One scholarship will be awarded.

MEMBER REQUIREMENTS/INFORMATION

1. The candidate’s parent or guardian must be a current member of WAEOP as confirmed by the Membership Chairman. (Current membership must be effective by November 1st of the current school year.)

2. A member must submit candidate application and supporting documents to the WAEOP Scholarship Chairman postmarked no later than FEBRUARY 1st.

These scholarships are open to WAEOP members who are entering or continuing their education in the field of education at an institution of higher education.

Scholarship award is based on: biographical sketch which should include association activities, financial need, community activities, and personal background. Judging criteria is as follows: biographical sketch - 35%, letters of recommendation - 15%, educational goals - 15%, financial need - 15%, association activities - 10%, community activities - 5%, professional presentation - 5%.

Please TYPE all requirements on the application form. Mail this form with biographical sketch to the Scholarship Chairman, postmarked by FEBRUARY 1st.

Member Scholarship

Deadline - February 1st

This scholarship is open to WAEOP members who are entering or continuing their education in the field of education at an institution of higher education. All members are encouraged to apply; however, first priority will be given to Area 10 applicants.

Scholarship award is based on: biographical sketch which should include association activities, financial need, community activities, and personal background. Judging criteria is as follows: biographical sketch - 35%, letters of recommendation - 15%, educational goals - 15%, financial need - 15%, association activities - 10%, community activities - 5%, professional presentation - 5%.

Amber Baumgarten

Amber is a senior at Naches Valley High School. She was sponsored by Yakima Valley AEOP. Amber plans to attend Eastern Washington University and major in a career health, fitness or nutrition related field. She has a specific interest in Administrative Nursing. She said she is drawn towards being in the business realm that she thinks she could be a very successful small business owner. She said she likes to be “THE BOSS” and the thought of being a person of influence.
She states that her strongest interest now is health care. She says she is not totally sold on the idea of interacting with patients when it comes to the thought of blood, but she thinks if she were to work her way into administrative nursing that it would find herself very content.

Rebecca Smith

Rebecca is attending Western Washington University in Bellingham. She was sponsored by her mother, Cheryl Smith, who is employed as an Office Assistant. Rebecca’s chosen major is Computer Science. Rebecca’s career objective is to get her degree and get a job.
Rebecca says that learning is one of her favorite things. Rebecca says she really enjoys attending Western because there is more variety in the courses there than in high school. She says for the first time in her life she is taking classes that really interest and challenge her.
Rebecca was not able to attend today for she had previous commitments, but she was pleased and honored she was to receive our scholarship
